Chicago History Project

    I’m going to write about Tony Williams for my Chicago History Project. I decided to write about Tony Williams because I enjoy jazz music and Tony Williams is a famous jazz drummer who was born in Chicago, Illinois.
      I wanted to research about Tony Williams because, I really enjoy listening to jazz music and this was a way to learn more about a jazz musician.

  Facts I learned about Tony Williams are: He was born December 12, 1945 in Chicago Illinois. Tony Williams full name is Anthony Tilmon Williams. He died February 23, 1997 in Daly City, California. Tony Williams died from a heart attack.

    My other choice was to write about H.H Holmes. I decided not to choose H.H Holmes because, I already had research about H.H Holmes and I wanted to learn about someone from scratch, not use old research to finish this project.
    Another reason I didn’t choose to write about H.H Holmes because I didn’t want to write/read about murder. I wanted to write something that I really enjoy reading about and murder isn’t something i enjoy reading about. Instead I decided to research on something that I enjoy, which is listening to music, I don’t really listen to rap music so I didn’t want to research about one, but I do
like listening to jazz music. Once I decided I wanted to research about a musician, I went to google and typed in famous musicians from Chicago. I went to a website, as I was scrolling down a name caught my eye, ‘Tony Williams, jazz drummer’. Afterwards I decided about researching about Tony Williams.

Hero

    “But darling, in the end you have to be your own hero, because everyone else is busy trying to save themselves.” The void called out. “How can I? It’s much easier to be your own villain and let everyone else defeat me!” He cried out to the void in front of him.
    The void began fading as it said its finally words to the boy who was on his knees, “Try looking at it in a different light.” Soon after the void disappeared leaving the boy to his thoughts.

      Why did t-that void mean? ‘Try looking at it in a different light.’ The boy wondered as he got up and began to leave the empty beach.


       This is a small story I made for school, the prompt that my teacher gave is on the top of the page. I decided to make a story out that quote, the story is about a boy, who doesn’t have a name, who is struggling to be ‘his own hero’, when out of nowhere a void begins talking and lecturing the boy ‘to be his own hero, because everyone else is busy saving themselves.’
    This is my free post for this week.

Quarter One Grades

 
       My goal for quarter one was to read fifteen books, I surpassed that goal with reading at least twenty books in quarter one, the first book being The Hunger Games ending with Bleach Volume 54. I surpassed this goal by reading any time I got free time, I also read on my phone so I could read when I don’t have a book at hand.

       My goal for grades is to get fours and threes, I met that goal with getting fours and threes. I met this goal by doing all of my IXL homework, No Red Ink , finishing my Classkick work, reading in my free time, and posted my posts for school.

   I didn’t make any big goals for writing because I believe I write pretty often.



My goals for Quarter two is to keep writing, to read at least twenty books, and to continue to get fours and threes.

Halloween

     What I’m doing for Hallowe’en is going trick or treating with my family. I’ll be dressing up as a inflatable dinosaur, my brother is dressing up as a Jedi, and my dog will be dressing up as a devil. My cat doesn’t like costumes so we aren’t getting a costume for her.
       It is sort of a tradition for our family to go to my house for Hallowe’en, it is also a tradition to celebrate my aunt’s birthday on Hallowe’en. This year my aunt isn’t going to be here because of work.
   My cousin, Emily and Xiomi, recently got a dog, Luna, they are bringing her over. Luna is going to dress up as a angel.

         At school I dressed up as a Ravenclaw student with a owl. My owl was a snowy owl, like Harry Potter’s owl. I decided to dress up as a Ravenclaw student because I couldn’t wear my inflatable dinosaur costume, and I already have my Ravenclaw robe, tie, scarf, and owl.

Personal Narrative Brainstorm

  Here is my personal narrative brainstorm, I already have an idea of what I want to do for my personal narrative, this post will show the format of my personal narrative.
I will also use fake names if the person doesn’t want to be part of it.

   Possible titles: Friends?, Hello Again, This is Why....
   Setting: Mrs Garcia’s classroom, My House, Ms Vanwyk’s classroom, recess
   P.O.V: first person
   Time: mid 2016, 2017, early 2018
   Event: Mentally abusive friend and when I realized she was one.


First paragraph of rough draft:
   Friends? What is a friend? People say it’s someone you can trust and laugh with. The last time I trusted someone dearly it ended horrible.
   It began in fourth grade, I was supposed to be in the ‘blue’ table. Three other people were in that table, those people were (using fake names) Richard, Dunkin, and Rebecca. They were fun people to be around, so I decided to talk more with them. Before I knew it, I became close friends with Rebecca. I would laugh with her, help her with homework, drive her to her house after school, bring her to the library, and give her food. I believed our friendship would last long, boy was I wrong, and wrong for the better.
  The more I hanged out with her, the more I felt tired and sad. I didn’t understand why, maybe I didn’t get enough sleep, maybe I was working too much, or is it because or horse back riding.
  The more I hanged out with Rebecca, she began to be more rude, simple stuff at first like, “ Are you an idiot?”

My Reaction

    This is going to have spoilers for the book, Middle School: the Worst Years of my Life. 

   When I found out that Leo was Rafe’s late twin brother I was shocked. After I found out everything started to fit into place, why Rafe’s mom said, “ And I think normal’s a little boring, don’t you?” , why Bear doesn’t like the idea of Leo, and why no one else but Rafe can see him.

  What I enjoyed about the book is that, it keeps you on your toes, not once slowing stuff down. Even though I enjoyed the book, though I do not think I will read it again.

      Welcome to my blog! This first post will be a way for me to used to this format. I don’t know what I’m supposed to write about, so for now I’ll be writing about me and stuff I enjoy.

      The type of music I enjoy to listen to is, rap, rock, classical, pop, alternative, and pop rock.
     Bands/singers I listen to is, Twenty One Pilots, Panic!At The Disco, Imagine Dragons, and The Killers.

          The musical I listen to the most is Hamilton. The reason why I listen to this musical the most is because, it talks about history in one of the funnest ways, it has catchy songs, and Lin-Manuel Miranda made the musical and informational.
      In Hamilton there is a bit of cursing in it, my favorite clean song is ‘My Shot’.

    Series I enjoy reading is, ‘Harry Potter’, ‘Lord of the Rings’, and ‘The Keepers’.
